The valedictory function of the State-Level Bhartiya Bhasha Utsav was held on 11th December 2024 at the Dr. S.R. District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Garacharma. The event marked the successful conclusion of a week-long celebration of India’s diverse linguistic heritage across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Dr. Jatinder Sohal, Director of Education, graced the event as the chief guest. In his address, he emphasised the significance of Indian languages in fostering unity and societal harmony. Dr. Sohal called for increased efforts to promote and preserve the country’s linguistic diversity, highlighting its role in strengthening national integration.
Mr. Gyan Sheel Dubey, Head of the Department (Education), DDE (Academics/Personnel), DEO, South Andaman, and Principal of Dr. S.R. DIET, delivered the welcome address. He underscored the importance of a multilingual society in the A&N Islands and the vital role of schools in nurturing a multilingual culture among students.
The vibrant program featured a captivating array of traditional dances, multilingual songs, and poems. It also included a unique showcase of food stalls representing various states, organized by teacher trainees from the institute. A colourful multilingual performance by the students of GSSS Garacharama was among the highlights of the event.
The ceremony was attended by Ms. Jyoti, Vice Principal and CRC Coordinator of CRC Garacharama, along with faculty members from SIE and DIET, DIET’s teacher trainees, teachers, and students from various CRCs.
The function concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. J. Govind Raju, Faculty/Samagra Shiksha In-charge at Dr. S.R. DIET, marking the end of a successful and culturally enriching event.
