State-Level Orientation and Training Programme on Adoption Organised at Sri Vijaya Puram

A one-day State-Level Orientation and Training Programme on Adoption was conducted recently at the Conference Hall of the Department of Industries. The programme was organized by the State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA) under the Directorate of Social Welfare, Sri Vijaya Puram, in collaboration with the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), and supported by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, New Delhi.

The initiative aimed to strengthen the adoption system through focused sessions on adoption regulations, the role of Child Welfare Committees (CWCs), state-specific challenges, identification of children for capacity-building, and enhanced coordination among stakeholders.

Participants included members of the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), CWCs, District Child Protection Units (DCPUs), Child Care Institutions (CCIs), Specialised Adoption Agencies, and officials from the Directorate of Health.

Ms. Reeta Devi, Nodal Officer of Mission Vatsalya, briefed the gathering on the scheme. Training sessions were led by Ms. P. Chandni, Senior Professional from CARA, and Ms. Charu Makkar, CWC Expert and empanelled Resource Person from CARA, who shared insights drawn from over three decades of work in child rights and protection. Their sessions highlighted both legal procedures and psychosocial aspects of adoption.

The programme began with a welcome address by Ms. Manjula Das, while Dr. Shweta, Probation Officer (JH), proposed the vote of thanks. The event concluded with participants reaffirming their commitment to ensuring that every child is placed in a safe, nurturing, and permanent home. (Story Based on PR)
