The State Level Science Drama Competition 2024, organized under the aegis of the Birla Industrial and Technological Museum (BITM), Kolkata, in collaboration with the Science Wing of the Directorate of Education, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, was held on 9th September 2024 at the Auditorium of Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE), Middle Point.
The event saw the presence of Mr. Gyan Sheel Dubey, Head of Office, Directorate of Education, as the chief guest for the inaugural ceremony. Dr. Manjulata Rao, Principal of TGCE, graced the occasion as the guest of honour, while Ms. M V Jolly, Deputy Director of Education (Personnel), attended as a special guest. The event was also witnessed by senior officials and principals from various institutions across the Union Territory.
The event commenced with a warm welcome by Mr. Ram Pravesh, Deputy Director of Education (Science). The competition featured performances by zonal level winners from all nine educational zones of the Union Territory, who presented science dramas centered around the theme, “Science & Technology for the Benefit of Mankind.”
A total of 72 students, accompanied by 18 escort teachers, participated in the state-level competition. The students from Campbell Bay Educational Zone emerged victorious, securing the first position and earning a spot in the Eastern India Science Drama Competition 2024, scheduled to be held on 30th September 2024 at BITM, Kolkata.
The valedictory function was graced by Mr. S. Suresh Kumar, Deputy Director of Education (Planning) and State Project Officer (Samagra Shiksha), who served as the chief guest. He presented trophies and certificates to the winners and participants, celebrating their achievements. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. R K Pandey, Science Consultant.
