State-Level Science Project Competition at Science Centre Showcases Innovation and Talent

The Science Centre, Sri Vijaya Puram, hosted a State-level Science Project Competition on 29th November 2025,  bringing together young innovators from across the Islands. Students from Classes 6 to 11 presented nearly 30 working science models and projects, drawing widespread attention from teachers, students, and the general public.

The event aimed to promote scientific thinking and practical innovation among school students.

Four participants were awarded cash prizes and certificates for their outstanding entries. Sudeepto Das from Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Sitanagar, won the first prize of ₹5,000 for his project titled “Automated Milk Spilling Stopper.” The first runner-up, Polimera Lavanya from St. Xavier School, Manarghat, received ₹3,000 for her project, “Sustaining Life Beyond Earth.”

The second runner-up position was secured by K.R. Dayanidhi of Vivekananda Nagar Palika Vidyalaya, Ranchi Tekri, who received ₹2,000 for his model “Waste Segregation Automation.” A consolation prize of ₹1,000 was awarded to Bharani Dharan from R.G.T. Public Vidyalaya for the project “Smart Irrigation.”

The programme was coordinated by Education Officer Mr. Debashis Paul from the Science Centre. Appreciating the participation, he said that such platforms not only encourage creativity but also motivate students to consider future careers in science and technology.

The exhibition received an overwhelming response and concluded with appreciation for the students’ creativity, curiosity, and commitment toward scientific learning.
