The State-Level Selection for the Vikshit Bharat Youth Parliament concluded successfully at the Mini Conference Hall, Secretariat, Port Blair. Organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Sri Vijay Puram, in collaboration with the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, the event marked a significant step toward fostering youth leadership and encouraging democratic engagement. The Vikshit Bharat Youth Parliament is a national initiative that empowers young minds by providing a platform to articulate their vision for India’s development, enhancing their debating skills, and encouraging active participation in policy discussions.
The selection process, conducted in multiple phases, witnessed enthusiastic participation, with 209 participants registering online via the My Bharat Portal. After a rigorous screening, 100 participants advanced to the District Level, from which 10 exceptional candidates qualified for the State-Level round. At the State-Level Selection, a distinguished jury panel meticulously evaluated the participants based on structured assessment criteria totalling 100 marks. The evaluation covered various aspects, including content relevance, clarity and structure, verbal communication and body language, innovation and creativity, language and fluency, and adherence to time.
The esteemed jury panel included Mr. L. Kumar, IAS, Secretary, Sports and Education; Mr. ASPS Ravi Prakash, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Education; Dr. RVR Murthy, Associate Professor, JNRM; Dr. R.G.S Bhagel, Associate Professor, JNRM; and Dr. Joshibed Vincent, Associate Professor, ANCOL. Following a competitive and intellectually stimulating selection process, the top three participants who secured their place in the National Youth Parliament to be held in New Delhi from April 1 to 3, 2025, are Miss Komalpreet Kaur, Miss Sayantika Mistry, and Miss Esha Ebyinson, all from Andaman Law College.
All participants were honoured with a valuable book, presented by Mr. L. Kumar, Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs, as a token of encouragement. Additionally, the jury members were felicitated with mementos in recognition of their valuable contribution. The event was graced by eminent dignitaries, including Mr. Vikram Singh, Director, Education; Mr. P.V.N. Sarma, Principal, Andaman Law College; and Mr. Sukha Ranjan Biswas, Deputy Director (OSD). Mr. S.R. Biswas extended a warm welcome to the jury members and guests, while Mr. Gopal Ch. Biswas of NYK efficiently coordinated the program.
Each jury member provided valuable feedback to the participants, highlighting their strengths and areas for improvement. They praised the enthusiasm and preparedness of the participants and encouraged them to continue refining their leadership and communication skills. In his concluding remarks, Mr. L. Kumar, Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs, commended the efforts of all participants and organizers. He emphasized the importance of youth engagement in shaping the nation’s future and urged young minds to utilize such platforms to express their ideas and contribute meaningfully to national development.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Vikram Singh, Director, Sports, acknowledging the contributions of the jury members, participants, dignitaries, and the organizing team for their dedication in making the event a grand success. The Vikshit Bharat Youth Parliament continues to serve as a transformative platform, equipping young leaders with the skills and knowledge necessary to contribute effectively to nation-building and democratic governance.
