The Department of Education, A & N Administration, concluded its State Level Summer Camp with a closing ceremony held on June 12, 2024, at Government Senior Secondary School, School Line. The event, organised under the aegis of the Eco Club, featured a thoughtful display of posters created by students, highlighting themes such as tree planting, water conservation, pollution reduction, and waste recycling.
As part of the theme ‘Ek Ped Meri Maa ke Naam’ (A Tree in My Mother’s Name), students, teachers, and community members participated in planting saplings around the school campus. The ceremony also included a drawing competition focused on the same theme, encouraging students to creatively express their commitment to environmental sustainability.
Ms. Sunita Sharma, the Nodal Officer of the School Summer Camp for Mission Life in this Union Territory, addressed the participants, urging them to invest wholehearted efforts into building a sustainable future for the generations to come. She emphasized the importance of continued environmental education and action among the youth.
Earlier in the program, Mr. D. Rai, Vice Principal of GSSS School Line, welcomed the attendees and commended the Government of India’s initiatives to organize such camps under the Eco Club. He highlighted the importance of raising environmental awareness among students. Faculty members from the State Institute of Education (SIE) also participated in the event, showing their support for the cause.
The closing ceremony was part of a week-long summer camp organized by the ‘Eco Clubs for Mission LiFe’, featuring various themes identified by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India. Schools across the region conducted multiple events to celebrate World Environment Day from June 5 to June 12, 2024, fostering a spirit of environmental stewardship among students.
Through activities like poster displays, drawing competitions, and tree planting, the summer camp successfully engaged the students in meaningful discussions and actions to protect the environment, ensuring that the message of sustainability continues to resonate well beyond the event.
