A two-day State-Level Training Programme on the e-Office Portal was conducted on January 21 and 22, 2026, by the Directorate of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies (RD, PRIs & ULBs) under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA) scheme. The programme was organised for officials of Gram Panchayats from South Andaman and North & Middle Andaman districts at the SPRC Training Hall of the Directorate at Marine Hill.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Bijoy Kumar Das, State Nodal Officer (RGSA), underscored the importance of capacity-building initiatives under RGSA in strengthening the functioning of Panchayati Raj Institutions. He emphasised that digital empowerment of Panchayat functionaries is essential for improving efficiency, transparency and service delivery at the grassroots level.

The training sessions were conducted by resource persons from the Directorate, including Mr. Dweependu Halder, Mr. C.H. Kiran Kumar and Ms. Naina. The programme featured interactive and hands-on sessions that combined technical orientation with practical demonstrations of the e-Office Portal. Participants were trained in digital file creation, noting and drafting, electronic movement of files, and secure disposal of records, aimed at promoting a paperless and efficient office system.

Earlier, Ms. K.A. Prameela, Assistant Director (RD/P), in her welcome address highlighted the significance of adopting digital platforms to ensure transparent, efficient and accountable governance at the Gram Panchayat level. She encouraged officials to effectively utilise the e-Office system to enhance administrative efficiency and public service delivery.
