The Directorate of RD, PRIs & ULBs, A&N Administration organized a State-level training programme on “Own Source Revenue (OSR)” at the SPRC Training Hall, Marine Hill, Sri Vijaya Puram, on August 19, 2025. The initiative, held under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA), aimed at enhancing awareness, promoting knowledge sharing, and strengthening the capacity of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs).
The programme began with a welcome address by Ms. K. A. Prameela, Assistant Director (RD/Panch), followed by an inaugural session delivered by Mr. Bijoy Kumar Das, State Nodal Officer (RGSA). Mr. Das underlined the importance of augmenting OSR to boost financial autonomy of Panchayats, improve local governance, and ensure sustainable development. During the event, top-performing Gram Panchayats in OSR generation from North and Middle Andaman district were also recognized.
Pradhans, Panchayat Secretaries, and RGSA team members actively participated in the day-long programme. Through interactive modules, presentations, and video sessions, participants gained insights into OSR concepts and the latest initiatives of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj for strengthening revenue generation mechanisms at the grassroots level.
The technical sessions were conducted by Master Trainers Mr. Ashish Shekhar, Panchayat Secretary, and Ms. E. Vidya Mala, Domain Expert (Financial Management), who shared practical approaches and best practices in revenue mobilization for Gram Panchayats.
