The two-day State Level Training-cum-Workshop on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Outcome-Based Education (OBE), and Pedagogy commenced on 18th July 2024, at the DBRAIT Conference Hall. The event was inaugurated by Mr. L. Kumar, Secretary of Education, A&N Administration. Organized by the Department of Higher Education, A&N Administration, in collaboration with the University of Delhi, the workshop aims to enhance the implementation of NEP 2020 across the region’s higher education institutions.
In his inaugural address, Mr. Kumar congratulated the participants for their involvement in this transformative journey and encouraged them to make the most of the expertise provided by the visiting scholars. A significant milestone of the ceremony was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Delhi and the Department of Higher Education, A&N Administration. This MoU will facilitate capacity building and examination reforms for the arts and science colleges in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, aligning with the NEP 2020 guidelines. The MoU is part of the mentor institutions initiative under the upcoming Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Institute of Higher Learning (NSCBIHL) Deemed to be University, notified by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
The workshop seeks to familiarize faculty members with broad topics related to NEP 2020 implementation and OBE. It will also cover the nuances of question paper setting as per Bloom’s Taxonomy and explore pedagogical innovations to enhance the teaching-learning process for 21st-century learners. The University of Delhi has sent four eminent resource persons for this purpose: Prof. K. Ratnabali, Dean of Academic Affairs; Prof. Ajay Kumar Arora, Principal of Ramjas College; Dr. Animesh Naskar, Associate Professor at Hansraj College; and Dr. Vikas Baniwal, Assistant Professor. They will conduct expert sessions and hands-on training for approximately 60 faculty members from higher education institutions across the islands.
Earlier in the event, Mr. Aditya Kumar Jha, Director of Higher Education, A&N Administration, welcomed the gathering. A video presentation on the higher education scenario in the A&N Islands was also showcased. Prof. Ratnabali highlighted the key aspects of the two-day workshop in her address. The program was coordinated by Dr. Shrabani Mallick and Dr. S. Raji, both faculty members at DBRAIT. Dr. Raji concluded the session by proposing the vote of thanks.
