The two-day State-Level ULLAS-Mela-2024, part of the centrally sponsored ULLAS-Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram/New India Literacy Programme (NILP), concluded at the Government Girls Senior Secondary School Auditorium on July 19 in the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Mr. Aditya Kumar Jha, Director of Education, served as the chief guest at the valedictory function, distributing certificates, mementoes, and trophies to the best-performing Cluster Resource Centers (CRCs), blocks, districts, and Saakshar Mitras. Eleven CRCs received Best CRC Certificates and mementoes, 18 individuals were honored with the Best Saakshar Mitra award, and three received Best Resource Person awards. Nicobar District was awarded the Best Performing District Trophy for their sustained efforts and services towards achieving 100% literacy among the tribal population.
In his speech, Mr. Jha urged all stakeholders to work towards making the Union Territory 100% literate, similar to Lakshadweep and other Union Territories and states that have achieved full literacy.
Earlier, Mr. R. K. Singh, State Nodal Officer for ULLAS-Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram and Deputy Director (Education for All), welcomed the gathering. Mr. Raja Ram, Programme Coordinator for ULLAS at the State Literacy Mission Authority (SLMA) in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, presented a detailed report on the two-day ULLAS-Mela.
