In a major boost to medical diagnostics in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a state-of-the-art 128-slice CT scan facility was inaugurated at GB Pant Hospital on 25th February 2025, by Secretary (Health) Dr. Anil Agarwal. The advanced imaging system is set to enhance diagnostic accuracy, reduce waiting times, and improve patient care.
Addressing the gathering at the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Agarwal highlighted the Administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and making cutting-edge medical technology accessible. “This new facility will significantly improve diagnostic capabilities, ensuring timely and precise medical interventions. It is part of our ongoing efforts to upgrade healthcare services for the benefit of the community,” he stated.
The newly installed 128-slice CT scanner features the latest imaging technology, providing high-resolution scans with reduced radiation exposure, enhancing both safety and efficiency. Capable of conducting cardiac scans, brain imaging, and whole-body scans, the facility is expected to cater to a wide range of medical needs.
Dr. M.K. Saha, Medical Superintendent of GB Pant Hospital, expressed gratitude for the initiative, emphasizing its impact on healthcare delivery. “With this addition, GB Pant Hospital is now better equipped to handle complex diagnostic cases efficiently. The facility will not only benefit the residents of Sri Vijaya Puram but also those from other Islands too,” he noted.
The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of Dr. Suja Antony, Director of Health Services & Director, ANIIMS, senior health officials, medical professionals, and local residents, who welcomed the development as a crucial step forward in the region’s healthcare landscape.
