With the aim of promoting mental well-being and strengthening emotional resilience among children residing in Child Care Institutions (CCIs), the State Child Protection Society (SCPS), Directorate of Social Welfare, in collaboration with Pankh NGO, organised a Stress Management Programme focusing on coping with examination-related stress.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Shweta, Nodal Officer (Mission Vatsalya), who highlighted the importance of addressing mental health concerns among children, particularly during the examination period, and reiterated the commitment of the Directorate of Social Welfare towards the holistic development of children in institutional care.

Dr. Nidhi Prakash, Clinical Psychologist with the National Health Mission (NHM), served as the resource person for the session. Through a series of grounding exercises, resilience-building activities, and interactive discussions, she sensitised the children to practical and effective techniques for managing stress and anxiety. The session also introduced scientifically proven study strategies such as Active Recall and the Pomodoro Technique, aimed at improving focus, time management, and academic performance.

Addressing the children, Ms. Komal Anand, Founder of Pankh NGO, motivated them to approach academic challenges with confidence and determination, stressing the importance of self-belief, positive thinking, and seeking timely guidance and support.

In the concluding session, Ms. Rehaneth Begum, Programme Manager, SCPS, apprised the children of various welfare schemes and support services implemented by the Directorate of Social Welfare. These included Mission Vatsalya, which focuses on the care, protection, and rehabilitation of children in need of care and protection, and the Child Helpline (1098), providing round-the-clock emergency assistance, counselling, and referral services. She also highlighted other institutional mechanisms in place to ensure the safety, well-being, and overall development of children, encouraging them to seek help whenever required.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the In-Charge of Seva Niketan.
