The District Administration of South Andaman has cracked down on illegal extraction and dumping of earth, taking firm action against violators found flouting the Land Revenue Regulations and Mines and Minerals Rules.

During a recent field inspection at Pahargaon village, revenue officials identified unauthorized activities involving the extraction and transportation of earth. The illegally extracted material—approximately 30 cubic meters—was later found dumped in Garacharma village. The violators had carried out these activities without the mandatory permissions, prompting authorities to impose a fine of ₹18,000.

In response to the incident, the Deputy Commissioner issued a stern warning to individuals engaged in illegal mining, earth transportation, and unauthorized dumping. The District Administration has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards such unlawful practices and assured that strict penal action will be initiated against all offenders.

The administration has also appealed to the general public to comply with all legal provisions related to land use, mining, and movement of materials. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activities concerning illegal dumping or transportation of earth and minerals. Complaints can be made to the District Control Room via landline numbers 03192-240127, 238881, or toll-free at 1070. Reports can also be sent through WhatsApp at 9531888844. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential to ensure their safety and security.
