The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services organised an educational exposure visit for students of Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), VK Pur, to the Central Livestock Farm (CLF), Nanjappa Nagar, Hut Bay, on February 4, 2026.

As many as 36 students, accompanied by two teaching staff members, participated in the visit aimed at providing practical insights into livestock and poultry management. During the exposure programme, the students were taken on a guided tour of the farm, where they observed the fresh hatch-out of quails of the Namakkal breed.

The students also gained first-hand exposure to different classes of poultry birds, ducks, and White Yorkshire pigs maintained at the farm. The visit helped familiarise students with scientific animal husbandry practices and the functioning of a central livestock facility, while also sparking interest in livestock-based livelihoods and veterinary sciences.

Officials of the Department said such educational visits play an important role in enhancing students’ understanding through experiential learning and bridging the gap between classroom education and real-world practices.
