Sri Vijaya Puram, 26 June 2025
As part of the ongoing week-long Anti-Drug Awareness Programme being conducted by the Science Wing of the Directorate of Education, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, ‘Painting Day’ was observed on June 25, 2025, at the State Library, Middle Point.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 100 students representing various schools across Sri Vijaya Puram. Divided into two groups—junior (Classes VI to VIII) and senior (Classes IX to XII)—students engaged in creative competitions designed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug use.
In the junior category, a Poster Making Competition on the theme ‘Say No to Drugs’ allowed students to express their anti-drug messages through vivid artwork and impactful slogans. Meanwhile, students in the senior category designed eye-catching logos for Anti-Drug T-shirts, creatively reinforcing the message of a drug-free lifestyle.
Adding a thoughtful dimension to the event, an interactive activity titled ‘Value Tree’ was conducted, where students shared personal values that guide them in leading disciplined and purposeful lives. This exercise aimed to instill a deeper understanding of self-awareness and responsible decision-making among young participants.
Director of Education, Mr. Vikram Singh, graced the occasion and addressed the gathering with an inspiring motivational story. He urged the students to make wise life choices and stay committed to a drug-free path.
Each day of the awareness programme begins with a brief recap session, encouraging students to reflect on their learnings and share insights from previous activities.
As part of Day-4 activities, an Anti-Drug Awareness Rally is scheduled to be held on June 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM. The rally will commence from the National Memorial Cellular Jail and culminate at the State Library, aiming to amplify awareness among students and the general public.
