Students Protest for Better Infrastructure and Posting of Teachers at GSSS R.K Pur, Little Andaman

Hundreds of students from Govt. Senior Secondary School, R.K Pur Little Andaman today gathered and protested in front of the school premises for better infrastructure and posting of required teachers.

The students of the school are said to be suffering for a long time because of the lack of proper infrastructure.

The toilets in the schools are said to be in very bad condition and need immediate repairs. Both the students and teachers are suffering because of the bad condition of the toilets.

The old school building is in a dilapidated state and needs to be replaced by a new building. There is a shortage of furniture in the school because of which 4-5 students have to share a bench.

The R.O Water purifier is non-functional for a long time and students are facing problems even to get clean and hygienic drinking water.

The school ground and the stadium is in very bad condition and is not being maintained properly. Several other problems were also mentioned by the students as the reason for their protest.

There is a lack of some teaching staff and the students also demanded immediate posting of the unavailable teaching staff.

Sources informed that the Directorate of Education took note of the protest by the students of GSSS R.K Pur and assured to take steps to improve the school infrastructure and to post adequate teachers.

The students called off the protest after the assurance from the Director of Education.
