Hundreds of students enrolled in different Govt. Schools at the remote Katchal Island are suffering as multiple teachers have not reported for duty after the start of the session. The situation was the same last year and the students had to manage without multiple subject teachers for the whole academic session.
Mr. Lorenes, Joint Secretary, Katchal Settlers Welfare Association informed Nicobar Times that Maths, Science, Economics and Hindi teachers are not available at GSSS Kapanga. Maths and Science teachers are not available at GSS Mildera and the Primary Schools at Japan Tikrey and Beachdera are functioning with just one teacher each.
Mr. Lorenes added that some teachers posted at the schools of Katchal either avoid joining duty at the Island or they take long leave. He informed that the situation was the same last year and even this year the same old pattern of not joining duty is being followed by some teachers.
Mr. Lorenes also took to Twitter and highlighted the suffering of the students of Katchal Island.
