The in-patients at PHC Campbell Bay are only being served boiled rice and dal for more than four months now. Vegetables, eggs and any kind of fish and meat are missing from the plates of the patients.
PHC Campbell Bay is the main hospital in Great Nicobar and patients from all corners of Great Nicobar and Little Nicobar Island avail services of the PHC for all their health care needs.
Patients hailing from the remote areas of Great Nicobar are the worst sufferers, as when they are admitted they usually do not have relatives in the headquarter area to bring them food.
Months ago the vendor supplying vegetables to PHC Campbell Bay had stopped the supply due to non-payment of pending bills.
Nicobar Times called the office of the Director of Health Services to get a comment from the Director, but she was unavailable.
The in-patients at the hospital are severely suffering as even potable water is also not available and the in-patients are asked to arrange for drinking water on their own.
A doctor always recommends a balanced and nutritious diet to their patients, but at PHC Campbell Bay the hospital itself is serving sub-standard food to in-patients who are admitted to the hospital for treatment.
