The Transport Department has informed the general public that, as per directions issued by the National Informatics Centre and in compliance with Rule 18(1)(e) of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR), 1989, the submission of Form 5A has now been made mandatory for the renewal of Transport Category Driving Licences.
The requirement will also apply to the revalidation of expired transport licences and the Additional Endorsement of Driving Licences (AEDL).
According to the notification, any renewal, revalidation, or AEDL application submitted without Form 5A from November 20, 2025, onwards will be considered incomplete and will not be processed until the document is submitted or uploaded. Applications that were already submitted and have passed the document upload stage may also be reverted to allow applicants to complete the requirement.
The Transport Department has advised all transport drivers and stakeholders to ensure Form 5A is attached with their renewal applications to avoid delays in processing.
