In a commendable display of dedication and efficiency, the vigilant team at PS Kalighat successfully apprehended an individual involved in the illegal narcotics trade, seizing 60 grams of illicit ganja in a well-executed operation.
The operation, carried out by a team comprising SI Silpi Singha, SHO PS Kalighat, HC Ashok Samaddar, PCs Sushil Sarkar, Eileen, and Subrata Biswas, targeted the residence of Kritibas Mazumder, a resident of Paranghara. Acting on reliable intelligence, the operation took place on February 1, 2024.
A thorough search of Mazumder’s residence led to the discovery of a transparent polythene bag concealed within a yellow-coloured carry bag in the accused’s bedroom. The bag contained 60 grams of illicit ganja, resulting in the immediate arrest of Mazumder.
The successful operation underscores the unwavering commitment of the Kalighat Police in combating the illegal narcotics trade within the community. This arrest serves as a testament to the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies in maintaining public safety and upholding the rule of law, aligning with the mission of the North & Middle Andaman Police to eradicate the menace of illicit substances from the community.
The arrested individual, Kritibas Mazumder, will face prosecution under the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Chandra Prakash Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur, with overall direction and supervision provided by Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District.
