Successful Excise Raid and Arrest in Kakana Village at Car Nicobar; Community Urged to Support Police Efforts

In a proactive move to clamp down on illicit activities, a targeted excise raid was executed by the Car Nicobar Police on April 6, 2024, at Kakana Village. The operation, spearheaded by Sub-Inspector J.R. Krishna along with a team comprising PC/730 Hiramani Minj, PC/1197 Manojit, CT/775 Finlayson, and PC(D)/2737 Prakash Rao, yielded significant results.

During the raid, approximately 300 litres of Lehan (fermented wash) were seized and promptly destroyed on the spot. Additionally, the vigilant police team apprehended Mr. Edmond, aged 29, a resident of Kakana Village. Two litres of illicit liquor was recovered from his possession. Mr. Edmond was promptly arrested, and a case under the Excise Regulation was registered against him. Investigations into the matter are currently underway.

The Car Nicobar Police Station reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to combating illegal activities in the region, underscoring the importance of community cooperation. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly. The police assured the public that the identities of informants would be safeguarded and kept confidential.
