Successful Operation by PS Mayabunder Results in Recovery of Illegal Timber

In a decisive move against illegal logging, the personnel of PS Mayabunder orchestrated a search operation in the Karmatang area, yielding the recovery of illicit timber on the 29th of April, 2024.

Under the astute leadership of Inspector P.K Abdul Arif, the Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Mayabunder, Police Constables Dilleshwar Rao and Sailen Pandey spearheaded the operation in Karmatang, Mayabunder, acting on intelligence inputs regarding unlawful timber storage. Their efforts culminated in the seizure of 48 pieces of Padauk Timber and 26 pieces of Pema Timber, amounting to a total volume of 0.923 cubic meters.

The timber cache was discovered in the possession of Anand Kujur, aged 56 and resident of Karmatang-10, Mayabunder. Upon confiscation, the recovered timber was promptly entrusted to forest officials who accompanied the police during the operation.

The N&MA Police reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to combatting illegal logging activities and safeguarding the natural resources of the region. This operation underscores the collaborative approach between law enforcement agencies and the public, not only in upholding law and order but also in preserving the environment.

N&MA District Police and Forest Officials emphasized their ongoing vigilance against wildlife crimes, reiterating their dedication to the conservation of biodiversity in the area.

Furthermore, the public was urged to actively participate in this endeavour by sharing any credible information related to criminal activities with their nearest Police Station or through emergency hotlines at 100, 112, and 03192-273344. Informers were assured confidentiality and promised suitable rewards for their assistance in upholding justice and environmental stewardship.
