In a significant move aimed at bolstering financial stability in rural India, the Government of India has unveiled the ‘Survey of Villages Abadi and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas’ (SVAMITVA) scheme. The initiative seeks to empower citizens in rural areas by enabling them to utilise their property as a valuable financial asset, facilitating easier access to loans and other financial benefits.

Under the SVAMITVA scheme, Property Cards have been issued to eligible individuals across the country. The Administration and Revenue Department have actively encouraged people to utilise these Property Cards, which streamlines the process of applying for loans and accessing various financial benefits digitally.

To access their Property Cards, eligible beneficiaries can visit the official website: http://db.and.nic.in/propertycard. This digital platform simplifies the verification process and ensures swift access to the property-related documents, enhancing convenience for rural citizens.

The Revenue Department has also taken steps to promote the widespread adoption of Property Cards. It has urged Lead Bank – State Bank of India (SBI) along with other scheduled banks, to incorporate Property Cards as part of their documentary requirements for various public sector schemes. This strategic move aims to boost the utilisation and popularity of Property Cards among rural communities, thus furthering the goals of the SVAMITVA scheme.

The SVAMITVA scheme holds the promise of not only improving financial inclusivity in rural areas but also facilitating sustainable economic growth by harnessing the untapped potential of property assets. By providing rural citizens with easier access to financial resources, the Government of India is taking a significant step towards bridging the urban-rural economic divide.
