The Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP) was inaugurated on Wednesday by the State Mission Director of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Rural Livelihood Mission (ANIRLM) in the presence of a representative from the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Gujarat, along with the State Programme Manager and other programme functionaries.

The SVEP project has been launched in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Gujarat. Under the initiative, 30 candidates have been selected to undergo training as Community Resource Persons – Enterprise Promotion (CRP-EPs).

As part of the programme, a four-day residential training session is being conducted at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, ICAR, Sippighat, where participants will receive intensive training on technical aspects related to conducting baseline surveys and preparing Detailed Project Reports (DPRs). Following the training, an SVEP cluster will be promoted by combining the Prothrapur and Ferrargunj Community Development Blocks.

The SVEP programme aims to promote entrepreneurship among Self-Help Group (SHG) members by supporting the establishment of rural enterprises and strengthening local economic development. Through trained CRP-EPs, the programme will provide handholding support to SHG members in starting and expanding small businesses, improving access to credit, and ensuring sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Addressing the participants, the State Mission Director of ANIRLM highlighted that the programme would play a crucial role in creating village-level entrepreneurs and generating employment opportunities, thereby contributing to economic empowerment and self-reliance among rural communities.

The initiative is expected to significantly enhance entrepreneurial capacity among SHG members and foster a vibrant ecosystem for rural enterprises across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
