Sri Vijaya Puram, 04 March 2025

Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council (SVPMC) is set to conduct an assessment of hotels, resorts, homestays, and hospitality units within urban limits as part of the Swachhata Green Leaf Rating System (GLRS). This initiative aims to promote sanitation, waste management, and public awareness, in alignment with the Swachh Bharat Mission and the Travel for LiFE Campaign, spearheaded by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation and the Ministry of Tourism.

The assessment will take place in three phases. The first phase, an orientation session, is scheduled for March 5, 2025, at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Auditorium in Aberdeen Bazaar. Following this, hotels will undergo a self-assessment process, which can be completed by scanning a QR code or visiting the SVPMC website. The final phase will involve on-field verification, commencing on March 8, 2025, through surprise inspections conducted by SVPMC teams.

Hotels will be rated on a scale of 1 Leaf, 3 Leaves, or 5 Leaves, based on their sanitation and waste management performance. The evaluation process will be transparent, with results made available upon request once officially declared.

Hospitality units are encouraged to actively participate in this initiative to contribute to Sri Vijaya Puram’s vision of becoming a cleaner and more sustainable tourist destination. For further details, visit the SVPMC website at https://pbmc.gov.in/files?id=975&websection=SolidWasteManagement. To complete the self-assessment, participants can scan the designated QR code.
