In a unique initiative aimed at promoting conservation awareness among young minds, the Swaraj Dweep Forest Division organized an educational program for school children from April 24 to 27, 2025. The program engaged students up to the middle school level from across the island in a hands-on marine conservation experience.

Accompanied by their teachers, the students witnessed the release of turtle hatchlings into the sea—a powerful and symbolic act underscoring the importance of marine life conservation. The event was part of a broader effort to educate children about the life cycle of sea turtles, the ecological threats they face, and their critical role in maintaining marine biodiversity.

Interactive sessions and live demonstrations helped deepen the students’ understanding of ecological balance and the need to preserve fragile habitats. Under the guidance of forest department staff, the children also took part in the release of the hatchlings, giving them a first-hand experience of wildlife conservation in action.

Forest officials informed that the initiative was designed to instill a sense of environmental responsibility and stewardship among the younger generation, ensuring they grow up with a strong connection to nature and a commitment to protecting it. (Story Based on PR)
