Of these, 700 eggs were provided to secondary and senior secondary students (Classes 9 to 12), while 425 eggs were given to Anganwadi children. The initiative aimed at promoting child health by supplying high-protein nutrition and supporting community welfare.

A function was also held to mark the occasion, with the Deputy Commissioner (Nicobars) as the chief guest and the Secretary, Tribal Council as the guest of honour. Officials from multiple departments, including Education, Social Welfare, Fisheries, Agriculture, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Forest, CDPO and BDO, attended the programme, reflecting strong inter-departmental collaboration. Around 50 children (five from Anganwadis and 45 from schools) participated in the event, adding to its community spirit.

The AH&VS Department stated that the initiative is part of its ongoing commitment to improve nutritional outcomes in the Islands. The active involvement of children, local leaders and officials highlighted the collective effort to prioritize child health. Similar programmes are planned to continue, in line with the Administration’s vision of fostering sustainable development and enhancing public welfare through targeted nutritional interventions.
