TB Awareness Programme Conducted at G.E.L Church in Karmatang

As part of the ongoing 100 Days Intensified TB Campaign, an awareness programme on tuberculosis (TB) was organized at G.E.L Church, Karmatang, on February 20, 2025. The event, held under the supervision of Dr. Christina Rossity, District TB Officer, North & Middle Andaman, aimed to educate the public and religious leaders about the prevention, early detection, and treatment of TB. Rev. Paul Vijay Kujur was also present during the session.

The programme began with a welcome address emphasizing the significance of TB awareness in public health. Mr. Madhava Rao Y, District Programme Coordinator (NTEP), provided an insightful presentation on TB, explaining its transmission, symptoms, and the distinction between latent and active TB. He also addressed common misconceptions about the disease, stressing the need for awareness and accurate information.

Participants were informed about the importance of early diagnosis and the availability of screening and testing services. The session highlighted the critical role of adherence to treatment in combating TB, reinforcing the commitment to making North & Middle Andaman a TB-free district.
