As part of the ongoing TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, the District Administration, South Andaman, through the District Health Society (SA) and in coordination with the Directorate of Health Services, organized a tuberculosis screening and outreach camp on 24 November 2025 at the Community Hall, Netaji Nagar, Hut Bay, Little Andaman.

The camp saw active participation from local residents. Mobile digital X-ray facilities were deployed to provide on-the-spot chest X-rays, aiding in the early detection of TB. Symptomatic individuals were screened, counselled and had sputum samples collected for confirmatory tests.

To ensure inclusive access, PHC/AAM Hut Bay arranged an ambulance service for elderly citizens, enabling them to comfortably reach the venue and avail the screening services.

Continuing the initiative, similar TB outreach and screening camps are being held on 25 November at HWC Ongi Tikrey and 26 November at Community Hall, R.K. Pur. The intensified efforts will also be extended to remote and tribal regions of the Islands to ensure no one is left behind in the national mission to eliminate TB.

The District Health Society has urged the public to actively participate in these community-level screening camps and support early detection and timely treatment of tuberculosis.
