In a significant operation conducted by the Pahargaon Police Station, ten individuals have been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act of 1985. The police team, led by SI Manish Narayan and supervised by Inspr. Hari Narayan, successfully apprehended the suspects and recovered a total of 125 grams of methamphetamine.

The operation was initiated on June 27, 2023, based on credible information received from an informant regarding M Kasinathan’s involvement in the possession and sale of methamphetamine. A team consisting of SI Manish Narayan, PC/930 Jagdish Babu, PC/175 S S Yadav, and LPC/1279 Sini Raju was immediately formed to carry out the raid. With the guidance of SHO PS Pahargaon, Inspr. Hari Narayan, the team conducted the operation at Bathubasti near School Gate, resulting in the arrest of M Kasinathan (44), who was found in possession of 97 grams of methamphetamine.

The raid and subsequent investigation were carried out under the supervision of Mr. Sunny Gupta, IPS, SDPO South Andaman, ensuring adherence to proper legal procedures.

During interrogation, M Kasinathan confessed to purchasing 200 grams of methamphetamine from an IRBn personnel named Amrita Malakar for further distribution. Consequently, both M Kasinathan and Amrita Malakar were arrested. Through technical analysis of Call Detail Records (CDRs), bank statements, and physical interrogation, it was revealed that Amrita Malakar had obtained two packets of methamphetamine from another IRBn constable named Jaidev Hawlader, who admitted to his involvement and was also arrested.

Further investigations uncovered a drug deal involving Amrita Malakar and one Nadeem alias Pawan, facilitated by Karthick alias Dada, Julku Mali alias Prakash, and Manikandan. The 500 grams of methamphetamine from this transaction were then sold to Abdul Umran alias Sonu. Sonu, upon being interrogated, disclosed the presence of methamphetamine at his residence. Acting swiftly, a team was formed, and a raid was conducted on July 7, 2023, resulting in the recovery of 28 grams of methamphetamine from Sonu’s residence.

Based on the gathered evidence, the Pahargaon Police Station arrested the following individuals: Abdul Umran alias Sonu, Kartick Roy alias Dada, R Manikandan, Nadeem alias Pawan, Julku Malli alias Prakash, and Moideen Gani. Additionally, Babul Sarkar, the former Pradhan of Netaji Nagar Panchayat, Hut Bay, was arrested on July 9, 2023. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
