Teressa is one of the remotest inhabited Islands in the UT of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The Island has a population of less than 2000 residents.

The residents of the Island are facing problems due to the nine-hour-long power cut every day for more than a week now.

Electricity Department in Teressa is forced to cut power every day for nine hours due to fuel shortage.

Sources have informed that a ship is likely to leave Port Blair today to supply fuel to various Islands of the Southern Group Including Teressa Island. The ship will likely reach Teressa Island by the 4th of September 2022.

Residents of Teressa informed Nicobar Times that even when there is no fuel shortage Electricity Department cuts the power supply in the Island every day from 5:00 Am to 7:30 Am and 2:30 Pm to 5:00 Pm.

Daily five-hour-long power cut is a norm in Teressa Island due to some issues related to the Diesel Generator used to produce electricity. The remoteness of Teressa Island has led to the five-hour daily power cut becoming a norm, without much outrage.
