Kadamtala Police have cracked a theft case with the arrest of an accused and the recovery of stolen property, including gold ornaments valued at nearly ₹19.56 lakh.
The case pertains to a theft reported on January 5, 2026, involving the loss of gold ornaments, cash and household articles from a residence at Shantanu village under Kadamtala Police Station. Following the complaint, an FIR (No. 01/26 dated January 5, 2026) was registered at Police Station Kadamtala, and an investigation was immediately taken up.
A special police team was constituted under the leadership of SI Shain Nair, SHO, PS Kadamtala, and included SI S. Sudharsanan along with personnel from IRBn and district police. The team conducted the investigation in a systematic manner, making use of technical inputs and intelligence to trace the suspect.
During sustained interrogation, the involvement of the accused in the theft was established. Based on the disclosure, the police recovered stolen gold ornaments valued at approximately ₹19,56,409, cash amounting to ₹46,500, and one LPG cylinder from concealed locations.
The accused has been produced before the Hon’ble Court at Mayabunder and has been remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation in the case is underway.
The investigation is being carried out under the close supervision of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Rangat, and the overall supervision of the Superintendent of Police, North and Middle Andaman District.
Meanwhile, the police have appealed to the public to share any credible information related to crimes or illegal activities with the nearest police station or through emergency numbers 100, 112, or 03192-273344. Police assured that the identity of informers will be kept confidential and suitably rewarded.
