A complaint of theft totalling approximately Rs 10,000 to 15,000 from donation boxes at the Shree Ganesha and Shiva temples was reported at PS Billiground. The complaint was filed by the President of Mahadeva Temple.
On 6th March 2024, a case of theft was officially registered at PS Billiground (FIR No. 16/23), under sections 379/457/461 of the Indian Penal Code. A special investigative team, under the leadership of the Station House Officer of PS Billiground and including Investigating Officer Head Constable K Sandeep, was swiftly assembled to pursue the case.
Through meticulous site inspections and analysis of CCTV footage, the team identified Nayan Bar as the prime suspect. Taking decisive action, a plan was devised to apprehend the thief, resulting in the successful capture of Nayan Bar near RRO Bust Stand on 7th March 2024.
Following his arrest, Nayan Bar confessed to his involvement in the thefts at the two temples on 2nd and 3rd March 2024. The stolen items were subsequently recovered from his possession.
The police have commended the community’s cooperation, emphasising the importance of swift action and collaboration in securing justice. The recovered items and evidence will play a crucial role in the legal proceedings against the accused.
