Three Anganwadi Centres Inaugurated in North & Middle Andaman

Secretary (Social Welfare), Mr. L Kumar, IAS, A & N Administration, recently inaugurated three newly constructed Anganwadi Centres under the UT Budget at Kalara, Ganeshnagar-I, and Ganeshnagar-II in North & Middle Andaman under the ICDS Project (Rural) Diglipur. 

The inauguration of Anganwadi Centres saw participation from Ms. Pratima Roy, Pradhan of Nabagram Gram Panchayat, Ms. Jayanti Jyoti, Zilla Parishad Member, Nabagram, and a large gathering of local residents.

Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary emphasised the vital role of community involvement in supporting Anganwadi workers and ensuring children reap the benefits of these services. He highlighted the importance of collaboration among parents, community leaders, and the Government in fostering children’s holistic development.

Reiterating the Government’s commitment to equitable access to nutrition and education in rural and underserved areas, the Secretary underlined the motto “Poshan Bhi – Padai Bhi” as a guiding principle for the welfare initiatives.

Ms. Indira Devi, Child Development Project Officer, Diglipur, welcomed the gathering and acknowledged the support of various departments and the active involvement of the community in establishing the Anganwadi Centres. She elaborated on the significant contributions these centres make toward improving the quality of life for children in the village.

Local leaders, including the Pradhan and Zilla Parishad Member, expressed gratitude to the Secretary for addressing the long-pending demand for Anganwadi Centres in the area. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Divya Raj, Mukhya Sevika.

The new Anganwadi Centres are expected to play a crucial role in promoting early childhood care, nutrition, and education in the region.
