District Police in Mayabunder have successfully apprehended three individuals involved in an illegal cow trafficking operation, which utilized the sea route between Mayabunder and Port Blair. The arrest comes as a result of diligent efforts by the police to gather intelligence and combat illegal activities in coastal areas.
On June 17, a patrol team from Mayabunder Police Station, led by Inspector Abdul Arif and SI Dinesh Meena, PCs Dilleshwar Rao, Balraju and Sashi Kumar Das of PS Mayabunder acted swiftly upon receiving information from the Coast Guard. The team seized an engine dinghy used for transporting cows and apprehended the individuals responsible for the illegal transportation.
The three arrested suspects, whose identities have not been disclosed, are directly involved in the illegal cow trafficking operation. Legal proceedings have been initiated against them in accordance with the law. The rescued cows, which had been subjected to inhumane conditions during transportation, are now under proper care.
This successful operation serves as a strong message from the North & Middle Andaman District Police that they will not tolerate cruelty towards animals and are committed to taking stringent action against those involved in such activities. The Superintendent of Police, N & M Andaman District, supervised the entire operation.
