The Andaman and Nicobar Police commemorated its 72nd Raising Day with an extravagant celebration on January 16, 1953. The celebratory event, held at the Police Lines Parade Ground, showcased a spectacular parade, highlighting the disciplined and professional personnel of the A&N Police.
Following the parade, the Prize Distribution Ceremony took place, recognising outstanding contributions to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of the community. In a groundbreaking move, a new category was introduced for the ‘Best Police Station,’ aiming to foster healthy competition for enhanced public service delivery and Citizen Centric Policing.
In this category, PS Swaraj Dweep was honoured with the top recognition for the Best Police Station. PS Billiground and PS Campbell Bay secured the second and third positions, respectively. The introduction of this award underscores the commitment of the A&N Police to excellence and recognises the vital role police stations play in serving the community.
A special segment of the ceremony focused on the acknowledgment of dedication and significant contributions by eight Regular Home Guards. Director-General (DG), Home Guards, Govt. of India Discs were presented to these individuals, praising their unwavering commitment and exemplary service in day-to-day duties.
The 72nd Raising Day celebration not only marked a historic moment for the Andaman and Nicobar Police but also reaffirmed their dedication to serving the community and upholding the principles of justice and safety.
