As part of the 25th Bharat Rang Mahotsav – International Theatre Festival of India organised by the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi, a three-day theatre festival is being hosted in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands from February 13 to 15, 2026. The event is being organised by the Directorate of Art & Culture, A&N Administration, in collaboration with NSD at the Dr B R Ambedkar Auditorium, SVPMC, Aberdeen Bazar.
The festival will feature three Hindi plays performed by the NSD Repertory Company, New Delhi, bringing acclaimed theatrical productions to the islands.
The festival will commence today (February 13) at 6 pm with the staging of ‘Tajmahal Ka Tendar’, written by Mr. Ajay Shukla and directed by Mr. Chittaranjan Tripathy, Director, NSD. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Dr Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, will be the chief guest on the occasion.
On February 14, the play ‘Mai Ri Main Ka Se Kahun’, written by Mr. Vijaydan Detha and directed by Mr. Ajay Kumar, will be staged at 6 pm. The concluding performance on February 15 will be ‘Babuji’, written by Mr. Mithileshwar, adapted by Mr. Vibhanshu Vaibhav, and directed by Mr. Rajesh Singh, also at 6 pm.
The collaboration reflects the commitment of the Directorate of Art & Culture and the National School of Drama to promote cultural exchange and artistic excellence in remote regions like the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. NSD, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, is one of the foremost theatre training institutions in the world and organises Bharat Rang Mahotsav annually as India’s largest theatre festival featuring national and international productions.
The general public has been invited to witness the performances. Entry is free on all three days. Audience members have been requested to take their seats by 5.40 pm, as seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
