Three-Day SHG Mela 2025 Concludes Successfully at Little Andaman

The three-day Self-Help Group (SHG) Mela 2025, organised under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) by the Directorate of Rural Development, concluded successfully at Netaji Ground, Ramakrishna Pur village, Little Andaman, with enthusiastic participation from SHGs, exhibitors and the general public.

The valedictory function was graced by Mr. Sunil Kumar, Divisional Forest Officer, Little Andaman, as the chief guest.

The mela witnessed an overwhelming public response, with around 3,500 visitors recorded on the concluding day alone. The event highlighted rural entrepreneurship, with SHG stalls displaying traditional handicrafts, locally produced food items and other indigenous products, showcasing the growing success of women-led enterprises. Participating SHGs collectively recorded a sales turnover of ₹9,77,639 during the three-day event.

A vibrant cultural programme featuring local art forms and performances was organised throughout the mela. Prizes were distributed to participants of the cultural events, while awards including First, Second, Third and Consolation Prizes were presented to the best-performing SHG stalls to encourage quality production and effective marketing.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Belthazer, Block Development Officer, CD Block, Little Andaman, who appreciated the collective efforts of SHG members, organisers and officials. The SHG Mela 2025 ended on a positive note, reinforcing the objectives of livelihood promotion, women empowerment and community participation under the DAY-NRLM initiative. (Story Based on PR)
