The Police Training School (PTS), Prothrapur, successfully conducted a three-day training programme titled “New Criminal Laws, 2023 (Master Trainer Course)” from September 8 to 10, 2025.

A total of 27 police officers from different districts participated in this Training of Trainers (ToT) programme, which focused on the newly enacted criminal laws — the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), 2023.

The curriculum highlighted both substantive and procedural changes in the new legal framework, emphasizing interactive sessions, case-based discussions, and practical applications to prepare officers for effective ground-level implementation.

At the valedictory session, Mr. Uma Shankar, DANIPS, Principal, PTS, and Ms. Iti Ravra, Senior Consultant, Ernst & Young LLP, BPR&D (PMA), New Delhi, underlined the importance of trained officers in disseminating knowledge across the force to ensure seamless enforcement of the new criminal laws, which came into effect on July 1, 2024.
