The authorities have issued a weather advisory for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, warning of thunderstorms and squally weather conditions over the next few days.
According to the forecast, thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds reaching 40–50 kmph are very likely at one or two places across the Islands on September 1. Similar conditions, with wind speeds of 30–40 kmph, are expected on September 2 and 3.
Squally weather with surface wind speeds of 35–45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph, is likely to prevail over the Andaman Sea and adjoining areas of the Islands during this period. The sea condition is expected to remain rough, with high waves forecast till September 2.
Fishermen have been strictly advised not to venture into the sea along and off the Andaman Sea and Islands till September 4. Authorities have also cautioned to be careful during marine operations and nearshore recreational activities in view of the adverse weather conditions. (Story Based on PR)
