The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are expected to witness thunderstorm activity accompanied by gusty winds and lightning at isolated places on June 18, as per the latest weather advisory issued by the authorities.
The forecast indicates that wind speeds may reach 40 to 50 kilometers per hour in gusts, especially over the Andaman Sea and the adjoining regions. These conditions are likely to result in squally weather across the islands, posing potential hazards to sea-based activities.
In view of the prevailing and anticipated weather conditions, the sea state is expected to remain rough, with heightened risks for small boats and traditional fishing vessels. Surface wind speeds may hover between 30 to 40 kilometers per hour, gusting up to 50 kilometers per hour, creating unfavourable conditions for marine operations.
Taking this into account, authorities have strongly advised fishermen and other seafarers to refrain from venturing into the sea along and off the Andaman Sea and coastal areas of the islands on June 18. (Story Based on PR)
