The Directorate of Disaster Management has issued a weather advisory warning of thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and lightning over parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the coming days.

According to the advisory, thunderstorm activity with gusty winds ranging between 40-50 kmph and lightning is very likely at one or two places across the islands on July 25. Similar weather is expected to persist on July 26 and 27, with slightly lower wind speeds of 30-40 kmph.

Additionally, squally weather conditions with surface wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, are likely over the Andaman Sea. The sea condition is expected to remain rough.

Fishermen have been strongly advised not to venture into the sea along and off the Andaman Sea till July 27 due to the unsafe maritime conditions, the Directorate said in a press release.
