Tiranga Mahotsav Marks UT-Level Celebration of Har Ghar Tiranga 2025 in A&N Islands

As part of the ongoing Har Ghar Tiranga (HGT) campaign 2025, the Directorate of Art & Culture, A&N Administration, organised a UT-level event titled Tiranga Mahotsav at the auditorium of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sri Vijaya Puram, on Tuesday. The campaign, being observed nationwide from August 2 to 15, aims to instil patriotism and national pride by encouraging every Indian to hoist the National Flag.

Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd), Hon’ble Lt. Governor of A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency, graced the occasion as chief guest. The event featured cultural performances, a patriotic-themed photo exhibition, and a Tiranga Mela by Self Help Groups under the Rural Development Department.

The function was attended by Chief Secretary Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS; PCCF Mr. Sanjay Kumar Sinha, IFS; Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Art & Culture) Ms. Chanchal Yadav, IAS; Chairperson, SVPMC Mr. Shahul Hameed; Secretary (Art & Culture) Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS; and other senior officers of the Administration.

Lt. Governor presented trophies and certificates to winners of the inter-collegiate patriotic dance competition. The first prize went to TGCE, while ANCOL and DBRAIT secured the second and third prizes respectively. JNRM received the consolation award.

Welcoming the gathering, Secretary (Art & Culture) informed that this year marks the fourth edition of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. She shared that the Ministry of Culture has dispatched 30,000 National Flags through the Postal Department for household distribution, with more expected to arrive to ensure maximum participation. She emphasised that the initiative seeks to make every household in the Islands a proud participant in the collective celebration of patriotism.

The cultural segment began with soul-stirring patriotic songs by a local cultural organisation. The Tiranga Mela showcased tricolour-inspired handicrafts and artefacts by SHGs, drawing enthusiastic public response.

Proposing the vote of thanks, Ms. Priyanka Kumari, Director, Art & Culture, lauded the efforts of all departments, cultural groups, and participants in making the event a grand success.

The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, celebrated under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, urges citizens to hoist the National Flag at their homes and workplaces, honouring the sacrifices of freedom fighters and strengthening the emotional bond with the Tricolour. (Story Based on PR)
