In a bid to promote the growing niche of Astro Tourism in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Tourism Department, in collaboration with Andaman Stargazing, will host a free celestial observation session using professional telescope on May 3, 2025, to mark International Astronomy Day.
The event will take place at Corbyn’s Cove Beach from 6 PM to 8 PM, offering participants a chance to observe visible planets, moons, and stars through professional-grade telescopes. Guided by an expert astro communicator, the session aims to introduce attendees to the basics of stargazing and raise awareness about the importance of preserving dark skies.
With minimal light pollution and proximity to the equator, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands offer optimal conditions for celestial observation and astrophotography. This initiative seeks to highlight the Islands’ potential as a premier destination for space enthusiasts and night-sky lovers.
The event is free and open to all members of the public.
