In accordance with the authority vested under the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 (Act No.59 of 1988) and Administrations Notification No./2008/F.No.32-95/2008-TR dated 10th March 2008, the District Magistrate of South Andaman District has issued a notification concerning the logistics of the General Election counting process for the 18th Lok Sabha.
The counting of votes for the General Election is scheduled to take place on 4th June 2024 at the JNRM Complex. To ensure the smooth flow of vehicular traffic on this day, specific diversions and regulations have been put in place.
Key points outlined in the notification are as follows:
– Pickets and barricades will be stationed at strategic locations including Sinclair Junction, South Point Circuit House Junction, Govt. Press, Machi Line, RK Mission, and Girls School Junction starting from 0400 hrs until the completion of the counting process on 4th June 2024.
– Only vehicles possessing necessary passes issued by the DC (SA) Office will be permitted to cross the designated picket/barricade points to access the Counting Centre area, i.e., JNRM, from 0400 hrs onwards.
– Vehicles lacking the requisite passes will be directed to park on both sides of the Mahavir Singh road up to the Dharamsala crossing. Two-wheelers will be directed to park on the left side from Dharamsala Junction to Girls School Junction. Additionally, four-wheelers will be allowed to park on the right side of the specified route and at designated parking lots near the Swimming pool and in front of the velodrome.
– A strict prohibition on parking vehicles between Old Scout Hut to Girls School Traffic Point has been enforced, as per the notification issued by ADM (SA).
These measures have been implemented to ensure the efficient management of traffic and smooth conduct of the 18th Lok Sabha Election counting process. Authorities urge all concerned citizens to adhere to the specified regulations.
