In a concerted effort to improve road safety and ensure compliance with traffic regulations, the Traffic Police Department has ramped up its enforcement drive against reckless and unlawful driving behaviors. This year, significant action has been taken against violators, with 219 vehicles seized for various traffic offenses.
According to the department, 189 vehicles were confiscated for drunken driving, while 30 two-wheelers were seized for reckless driving, using modified silencers, and pressure horns. These modifications not only cause public nuisance, especially during evening hours, but also pose a serious threat to road safety.
The police have also taken strict action against underage riding and those driving without valid licenses. Among the seized two-wheelers, 10 had no number plates or defective plates, and one juvenile rider was caught and challaned along with his parents under the Motor Vehicles Act.
The Traffic Police remain committed to enforcing the law with zero tolerance towards traffic violations. Legal proceedings have been initiated against all offenders, and stringent penalties will be imposed as per the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
The department has urged the public to actively participate in reporting traffic violations. Citizens can report offenses such as riding without helmets, using mobile phones while driving, illegal parking, rash driving, and triple riding by sending photos or short videos with clear vehicle registration numbers, along with the date, time, and location of the offense, to the Traffic Police’s official WhatsApp number: 9531892228 or by contacting the Traffic Control Room at 03192-243812.
This initiative is aimed at promoting safer roads and fostering a culture of responsible driving in the region.
