Training-Cum-Sensitisation Programme Elevates Tourist Police Service Standards in Andaman & Nicobar Islands

In a bid to enhance the proficiency and sensitivity of tourist police personnel, the Andaman & Nicobar Police collaborated with the Indian Institute of Tourism Management, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, in a week-long Training-Cum-Sensitization Programme from February 10th to February 16th, 2024.

The programme aimed to equip tourist police personnel with essential skills and knowledge crucial for delivering superior services to visiting tourists while ensuring their welfare. The meticulously designed programme featured sessions conducted by esteemed professionals including Dr. Lalit Das, ADGP, Odisha, Dr. Adayasha Das, Programme Coordinator, Dr. Subramanium, Assistant Professor at IITM, and Mr. Firoz Khan, Manager, IP&T.

Covering a spectrum of topics such as Police Behaviour, Handling Emergency Situations, Communication Skills, Personal Development, and Etiquette, the sessions were aimed at providing comprehensive training. The programme also included field visits to provide practical exposure and enhance understanding.

A total of 31 police personnel from the Andaman & Nicobar Police benefited from the immersive training experience. During the valedictory session presided over by Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, DGP, A&N Islands, Course Completion Certificates were distributed to the participants. The event was graced by distinguished guests including Ms. Monika Bhardwaj, IPS, DIGP (Training), Mr. Manjeet Sheoran, IPS, Principal (PTS), and Mr. M.K. Shukla, DANIPS, Vice Principal (PTS).

The collaborative effort between the Andaman & Nicobar Police and IITM underscores a commitment to elevating standards in tourist policing, ensuring a safe and enriching experience for visitors to the region.
