Training Program on Value Addition of Fruits and Vegetables Held at Haddo

The Department of Agriculture organized a one-day training program on ‘Value Addition of Fruits & Vegetables’ at the Departmental Fruit Preservation Unit, Haddo. The event focused on equipping participants with skills in processing and enhancing the market value of local produce.

Participants were introduced to the benefits of value addition and received hands-on training in the preparation of ginger candies and carambola squash. The session covered various aspects, including processing techniques, quality standards, packaging, and marketing strategies.

Addressing the gathering, Ms. Gulshan Bibi, In-charge of the Fruit Preservation Unit, highlighted the significance of value addition for improving farmers’ income. She stressed the importance of obtaining FSSAI certification, which ensures product quality and enhances marketability. Ms. Bibi encouraged participants to register their products with FSSAI for better recognition and market access.

The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from 21 members of four Self-Help Groups (SHGs) — Savera, Durga, Sriguru, and Netaji. Under the guidance of experts, the participants successfully prepared ginger candies and carambola squash, gaining practical insights into the value addition process.
