Training Programme Conducted for PRIs to Foster Village Self-Sufficiency

A specialised training program was held at the CMTC Building in Ferrargunj, focused on equipping Pradhans, Panchayat Secretaries, and other local officials with essential skills and initiatives for promoting village self-sufficiency. Titled “Strategic Development and New Initiatives Towards a Self-Sufficient Village,” the event attracted approximately 45 participants, including local PRIs and officials.

The program commenced with participant registration, followed by a welcoming address from BDO Ferrargunj, Mrs. Lalita Tigga. She highlighted the training objectives and underscored the critical role of self-sufficiency in rural areas and local governance in achieving this vision.

Throughout the day, attendees engaged in various knowledge-sharing sessions led by expert speakers. Ms. C. Vijiya, a Domain Expert in Women Empowerment from the Directorate of RD, PRIs & ULBs, initiated discussions with her presentation on “Introduction to Self-Sufficiency Villages and Strategic Development.”

Mr. Ummer Farooque, JE (PRIs), contributed valuable insights on “Strategic Development in Gram Panchayat on a Real-Time Basis for Self-Sufficiency,” while Mr. Madhusudan Rao, JE (PRIs) from the Gram Panchayat Ferrargunj/Brindaban/Kanyapuram, focused on “New Initiatives Towards a Self-Sufficient Village.”

The session featured experiences and ideas shared by local leaders, including Mr. K. Venkat Ram Babu, Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Wimberlygunj, and Mr. P. Abdul Basheer, Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Kanyapuram, who pledged their ongoing support to the Block Office in Ferrargunj for future rural development initiatives.

To ensure engagement, the RGSA team conducted pre- and post-assessment questionnaires during the training session.

Mrs. Lalita Tigga concluded the program with a vote of thanks, expressing her gratitude to attendees, resource persons, Pradhans, and PRI members for their valuable insights and support toward rural development.

This initiative reflects the Government’s commitment to strengthening local governance and promoting sustainable village development across the region.
