Training Programme Held in Diglipur to Boost Farmers’ Technical Skills in Farm Machinery Maintenance

The Zonal Agriculture Office, Diglipur, conducted a hands-on training programme on Thursday to enhance farmers’ proficiency in operating and maintaining farm machinery, including power tillers, brush cutters, and water pumps. The session took place at the Agriculture Department Workshop in Keralapuram.

The initiative specifically targeted farmers who own such machinery, aiming to strengthen their technical skills and promote efficient, sustainable farming practices.

The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Dipankar Mistry, Pramukh of the Panchayat Samiti, who served as the chief guest. Also present were Ms. Anita Mondal, Pradhan of Keralapuram Gram Panchayat, and Mr. Niranjan Hawlader, Zilla Parishad Member, Sitanagar/Diglipur.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Mistry underscored the benefits of organic farming and encouraged farmers to adopt more sustainable agricultural methods. The technical training was led by Mr. Biprotosh Das, Assistant Chargeman, Workshop Diglipur, who provided participants with practical demonstrations and guidance on machinery upkeep.

Welcoming the participants, Ms. Arti Singh, Assistant Director (Agriculture), Diglipur, emphasized that the training is part of a broader departmental effort to empower farmers with the knowledge required to independently manage and maintain their agricultural equipment.

As part of the programme, Soil Health Cards were distributed to the farmers by the dignitaries, and essential tools were also handed over to the participants.

The Agriculture Department has announced plans to continue such training initiatives. Farmers seeking information about upcoming sessions and available resources are encouraged to contact their nearest Agriculture Sub-Depot.
